We very much regret to announce the death of Mr Christopher Morris on 12th March 2015, aged 72. Christopher was a long-term supporter of the Ridley Eye Foundation who substantially contributed to the financial well-being of the Foundation. As a close personal friend of Nicholas and Lauretta Ridley he had met Sir Harold Ridley on a number of occasions. His sound financial advice will be greatly missed.

The Ridley Eye Foundation has funded the attendance of Dr Ireny Wesley, the resident at Harpur Memorial Hospital, on the Microsurgical Skills Course, at the Royal College of Opthalmologists, London during November 2014.

The three day intensive course is an excellent opportunty to experience the practical aspects of Opthalmology, along with lectures held on relevant topics. Ireny certainly found this a very useful and constructive course.

On 1 December Nicholas and Lauretta Ridley visited the David Apple Laboratory at Heidelberg University Hospital to meet with Prof Dr Gerd Auffarth and Donnie Munroe. The laboratory's work involves research into lenses and equipment associated with IOL implants. Nicholas had an attempt at cataract surgery using the laboratory's phaco simulator and realised that he had not inherited his father's surgical dexterity! Strong links have been established between the Laboratory and the Ridley Eye Foundation, especially in connection with training for sustainable cataract surgery at Harpur Memorial Hospital.
